Question 297347: 21.indicate which of the following sets of lines are parallel,perpendicular,or neither. y=2x-5 and y=2x+5.Show work and explain why you chose the answer you did.(I am really confused with this question and have no idea what they are talking about????)Thanks =)

Notice how the two lines have the same slope of 2. Since their slopes are equal to 2, this means that the two lines are parallel.

Lines that are parallel have identical slopes.
Both lines are in slope-intercept form, y=mx%2Bb, where m is the slope. For both lines the slope is 2.

If the lines were perpendicular, then their slopes would be negative reciprocal of each other.
m1%2Am2=-1
Like y=2x%2B5 and y=-%281%2F2%29x%2B5 as you see from the graph.

If neither of those conditions held, then they would intersect at one point like
y=2x%2B5 and y=x-2
