You can put this solution on YOUR website! The Rocket Coaster has 15 cars, some that hold 4 people and some that hold 6 people. There is room for 72 people altogether. How many 4-passenger cars are there? How many 6 passenger cars are there?
-----------
Equations:
Cars Eq:::: f + s = 15 cars
Chairs Eq:: 4f +6s = 72
--------------------------------
Multiply thru 1st equation by 4:
4f + 4s = 60
4f + 6s = 72
--------------------
Substract 1st from 2nd and solve for s:
2s = 12
s = 6 (# of 6-passenger cars)
