You can put this solution on YOUR website! Can you tell me how to graph the inequality "y is less than or equal to negative x squared plus 3?"
y <= -x+3
-----------------------
You must ALWAYS graph the equality in order to see the graph of an inequality.
---
Graph y = -x+3
You need two points:
Let x = 0, then y = 3 giving you point (0,3)
Let x = 3, then y = 0 giving you point (3,0)
---
Plot the two points and draw a line thru them.
----
To graph the INEQUALITY test a point that is not on the boundary line,
which is the graph of the equality.
---
Test the point (0,0) in the inequality.
You get 0 < -0+3
That is true so the solution to the inequality is the half-plane
that contains (0,0)
Shade the half-plane below the boundary line.
---------------
Ans: All the points that are on the line or in the half-plane
below the line.
