You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y/x+y/2x=1
(2y+y)/2x=1
3y/2x=1
2x=3y
2x/y=3
1/y=3/2x
They take y days working together.
y/5+y/10=1
2y+y=10
3y=10
y=10/3=3 1/3 days
If Melanie can do it alone in 5 days and Melissa in 10 days they can do it together in 3 1/3 days.
10/3/5+10/3/10=1
2/3+1/3=1
Melanie will do 2/3 and Melissa will do 1/3 of the job
1/y=3/2x
In one day they will do 3/10 of the job together
They will do 3/2x of the job in one day together
