Question 29562: Please help me with this function question
a) Use the graph to find the x interval(s) on which the function is positive.
b) Use the graph to find the x interval(s) on which the function is negative.
I only have the graph but not sure how to find the x interval. What does it mean by positive and negative?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The function of x is the y value. What the question is asking is what is the interval(s) when the function is positive, which means what are the x values when y>0. If our graph looked like this...
graph%28300%2C300%2C+-9%2C+6%2C+-25%2C+25%2C+x%5E2%2B3x-10%29
...we would say the interval for which x is positive is x%3C-5 OR x%3E2 (look at the x axis if this is confusing)
and the interval for which x is negative would then be: -5%3Cx%3C2 which is read as -5 is less than x which is less than 2.
