Question 295226: This is probability and I just don't get it.
A box contains 8 blue cards, 4 yellow and 2 pink. 2 cards are taken at random from the box, one at a time and then put back. Find each probability:
1. blue, then pink
2. yellow, then blue
3.yellow, then pink
4. pink, then yellow
5. blue, then yellow

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This is probability and I just don't get it.
A box contains 8 blue cards, 4 yellow and 2 pink. 2 cards are taken at random from the box, one at a time and then put back. Find each probability:
----
Since you are placing the 1st draw results, the probabilites
of the separate draws are independent. (That means the 2nd
draw results don't depend on what happens in the 1st draw.)
--------------------------------
1. P(blue, then pink) = P(blue)*P(pink) = (8/16)(2/16) = 1/2*1/8 = 1/16
---------------------
2. P(yellow, then blue) = P(yellow)*P(blue) = (4/16)(8/16) = (1/4)(1/2) = 1/8
----------------------------------
Can you do the rest?
