Question 295205: I found this question in book entitled 1001 solved problems in engineering math, the book already gives the answer but i dont understand how it is done,here is the question:
(a^n)(a^m)=100000
(a^n)/(a^m)=10
find the value of a:
I hope it will be answered with some explanation in it. thank you for the help. Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (a^n)(a^m)=100000
(a^n)/(a^m)=10
find the value of a:
-----------------
(a^n)/(a^m)=10 --> a^n = 10a^m
Sub for a^n in 1 eqn
10a^m * a^m = 100000
a^2m = 10000
a^m = 100
a^n = 1000
-----------
If m and n are integers, then
a = 10
m = 2
n = 3
------
Other solutions may be possible.
