Question 294530: how do i simplify x^2 over x+2 multiplies by x^2-5x-14 over x^2+2x so far i did this
-7 multiplied by 2 gives me a negitive 14 and when added gives me -5 so i did (x-7) (x+2) now i dont know what to do to finish simplifying the problem. my teacher says we are doing "multiplication and division of rationals"

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how do i simplify x^2 over x+2 multiplies by x^2-5x-14 over x^2+2x so far i did this
-7 multiplied by 2 gives me a negative 14 and when added gives me -5 so i did (x-7) (x+2)
:
x%5E2%2F%28%28x%2B2%29%29 * %28x%5E2-5x-14%29%2F%28x%5E2%2B2x%29
After you factor x^2-5x-14 you can also factor x^2+2
x%5E2%2F%28%28x%2B2%29%29 * %28%28x%2B2%29%28x-7%29%29%2Fx%28x%2B2%29
(x+2) cancels and x cancels into x^2, resulting in:
x%2F%28%28x%2B2%29%29 * %28x-7%29%29 = %28x%28x-7%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B2%29%29
