Question 29335: x=4y
y=3x+1

You can put this solution on YOUR website! x=4y ----(1)
y=3x+1 ----(2)
Using (1) in (2)
y = 3X(4y) +1
y=12y+1
y-12y = 1
-11y = 1
y =1/(-11)
That is y =(-1/11)
Putting y = (-1/11) in (1),we get
x = 4 y = 4X(-1/11) = -4/11
Answer: x = (-4/11) and y = (-1/11)
Verification: RHS of (2) is
3x+1 = 3X(-4/11) +1 = -12/11+1 = (-12+11)/11 = (-1/11)= y = LHS.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! for convience lets put numbering of the given equations...
x=4y...........equation no. 1
y=3x+1.........equation no. 2
Now, by substitution method ,,,substitute the value of "x = 4y" from equation no. 1 to equation no 2 ....we get...
y = 3(4y) + 1
y = 12y + 1
y - 12y = 1
-11y = 1
y = 1/-11
or y = -1/11
Now, put the vlaue of y= -1/11 in any of the equation ...but for easy calulation,,,,I choose equation no.1....
x = 4y
x = 4(-1/11)
x = -4/11
Therefore, the values are ,,,
y = -1/11
x = -4/11
