Question 29279: Chuck can shovel the snow off his driveway in 40 minutes. He shovels for 20 minutes and then is joined by Joan. If they shovel the remaining snow in 10 minutes, how long would it have taken Joan to shovel the driveway alone? Answer by askmemath(368) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I could solve it the longer way, but the shorter way is easier to understand
Chuck shovelled for a total of 30mins
In 30 mins he would have shovelled 30/40= 3/4th of the walk
Joan shovelled for 10mins
She shovelled the remaining 1/4th in 10mins
For her to shovel the entire thing
So Joan also would take 40mins to shovel the driveway
