Magazine sales. Henry sold 120 magazine subscriptions in
x days.
a) Write a rational expression for the rate at which he sold
the subscriptions.
b) Suppose that he continues to sell at the same rate for
5 more days. Write a rational expression for the number
of magazines sold in those 5 days.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
120/x is how many he sold each day. We want to know how many he sold in 5 days
5*120/x

Henry sold 120 magazine subscriptions in x days.

a) Write a rational expression for the rate at which he sold the subscriptions.

He sold 120/x magazines per day.

b) Suppose that he continues to sell at the same rate for 5 more days.

Write a rational expression for the number of magazines sold in those 5 days.

This would be 5 * (120/x).

Example:

Suppose x was equal to 10.

This means he sold 120/10 = 12 magazines per day.

If he continues to sell at the same rate, in 5 more days he will have sold 5 * 12 = 60 more magazines.

This means that in 10 days he sold 120, and in 15 days he sold 180.

120/10 = 12 magazines per day.

180/15 = 12 magazines per day.

The rate is the same as it should be.
