You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When you need to solve a problem that involves speed and time, you normally have to use the equation distance = speed x time.

First part of trip distance = speed x 4 hours
Second part of trip distance = (speed + 3mph) x 3 hours

We know that the two distances are equal so we can set up the following equation:
speed x 4 hours = (speed + 3mph) x 3 hours
4speed = 3speed + 9
4speed -3speed = 9
speed = 9 mph

speed + 3 = 12 mph

Does that look right?
