Question 289927: In 2005, Americans spent a

each? Answer by brucewill(101) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x = # of billions spent on bathrooms
Therefore, x + 5 = # of billions spent on kitchens
x + x + 5 = 26
2x + 5 = 26
2x = 21
x = 10.5 (bathrooms)
x+5 = 15.5 (kitchens)
10.5 + 15.5 = 26. OK.
