Question 28976: Two airplanes start at the same time from cities that are 2448 miles apart. They met in one-in-one half hours. The rate of one plane is 288 mph less than the rate of the other. What is the rate of each? How far will each plane have gone? Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1.5 hours is the time they meet
One plane = x-288
other plane = x
1.5(x+x-288)=2448
3x-432=2448
3x=2880
x=960
960-288=672
Hence, the rate of one plane is 960mph and the rate of the other is 672mph.
