Question 28925: The sum of four times a number and 5 is equal to the difference of twice the number and 7. Find the number.
This has to be shown as an algebra problem and I have no idea how to go about this. Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the number be "x".
EQUATION:
4x+5=2x-7
Subtract 2x from both sides to get:
2x+5=-7
Subtract 5 from both sides to get:
2x=-12
Divide both sides by 2 to get:
x=-6
