Multiply numerator and denominator by sqrt(8)-sqrt(6) to get:

[(sqrt(2)+sqrt(6))(sqrt(8)-sqrt(6)] / [8-6]

Use FOIL on the numerator:

[sqrt(16) -sqrt(12)+sqrt(48) - 6]/2

Simplify:

[4 - 2sqrt(3) + 4sqrt(3) -6]/2

= [2sqrt(3)-2]/2
