Question 288214: Please help me with this please:
Tracy wants to purchase custom-made bumper stickers to advertise her business. Two websites offer different deals:
Website A: Pay a fee of $127.00, plus $0.45 per bumper sticker
Website B: Pay a fee of $100.00, plus $0.60 per bumper sticker.
At least how many bumper stickers must Tracy purchase in order for Website A to be the better choice?
Write an appropriate inequality and solve it algebraically.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Website A: $127 set up fee plus $0.45/sticker(S)
C = 127 + 0.45(S)

Website B: $100 set up fee plus $0.60/sticker(S)
C = 100 + 0.60(S)

To locate the crossover point, where A is less than B, we need to calculate where:
Website A < Website B, so:

127 + 0.45(S) = 100 + 0.60(S) Now subtract 100 from each side, giving:
27 + 0.45(S) = 0.60(S)
subtract 0.45(S) from each side:
27 = 0.15(S) Divide each side by 0.15, giving:
180 = S

Now replace (S) with any number from 1 to 179 in each of:
127 + 0.45(S) = Total and
100 + 0.60(S) = Total to verify that B is indeed lower than A,
then, while you have calculator in hand, replace (S) with any number greater than 180 and bob's your uncle!
