Question 287949:  A ranger in fire tower A spots a fire at a direction of 32°.  A ranger in fire tower B, which is 22 miles directly east of tower A, spots the same fire at a direction of 58°.  How far from tower B is the fire?  (Hint:  Draw a picture of this one.) 
 
I need help with this problem. We can not get an answer from our instructor about how to solve it.

This is a poorly worded problem which has no solution as it's presented.

The only way it could be solved is if the angles are measures with respect to the 22 mile line between the 2 stations.  That's not what it stated, it says the 32º and the 58º are directions.

If the 2 angles are wrt to the 22 mile line between A and B: 
It's a right triangle, so the distance from B to the fire is 22*sin(32) 
=~ 11.66 miles
