Question 28782: To secure a 500-meter radio tower against high winds, guy wires are attached to a ring 5 meters from the top of the tower. The wires form a 15 degree angle with the tower. Find the distance from the tower to the guy wire anchor in the ground.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Draw the picture.
Ground to the ring is 495 meters.
Angle at the top is 15 degrees.
Let distance from the base of the tower
to the point where the wire meets the ground
be "x"
Then tan(15degrees)= x/495
x=495tan(15)
x=132.64 meters
