when you say "simplify", i am not sure that there is much EASY manipulation you can do here to make any simplification worthwhile.

Can you be more specific as to the aim of the question? Do you need to re-write it in terms of r for example?

The issue is the 1- aspect, this makes the denominator a lot harder to re-arrange.
