You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hendrix’s age is half that of David’s age. Cole is eight years younger than David. In seven years, Hendrix will be two years older than Cole’s original age. What is the sum of their current ages?
Let Hendrix' age be H.
Since Hendrix is half of David's age, then David's age is 2H
Since Cole is eight years younger than David, then Cole is 2H - 8
Since in seven years, Hendrix will be two years older than Cole’s original (current) age, then we'll have:
H + 7 = 2H - 8 + 2
H + 7 = 2H - 6
-H = - 13
Therefore, H, or Hendrix' current age is 13
This means that David is 2H, or 2(13) = 26
This also means that Cole's age is 2H - 8, or 2(13) - 8, or 18
This makes the sum of their ages 13 + 26 + 18, or
