You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the volume V of the cube when the length of the side is a= x+3
a= x+3 V=a^3
Please help Thanks
Length of the cube = (x+3)
Volume = (length)^3
=(x+3)^3
= (x)^3 +(3)^3 +3X(x)X(3)(x+3)
[using (a+b)^3 = a^3 +b^3 +3ab(a+b) where here a = x and b = 3]
= x^3+27 +9x(x+3)
=x^3+27+9x^2+27x
=x^3+9x^2+27x+27
Answer: Volume = (x^3+9x^2+27x+27) cubic units
Note: The above formula may also be remembered as
(a+b)^3 = a^3+3(a^2)b+3a(b^2)+b^3 (notice that a is reducing by one and b is increasing by 1 in their power)
