I know the answer is 3 but when i try it, it equals -2.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I think you've got the right idea but your execution is a little off.
4c-7 = 2c-1 Subtract 2c from both sides of the equation.
2c-7 = -1 Now add 7 to both sides.
2c = 6 Finally, divide both sides by 2.
c = 3
