I tried to multiply 42(the denominator) till i got 100, but 42 doesn't go into 100 so i tried multiplying till i got a number that can go into 200 300 400... but 42 doesn't go into those numbers either. Can you help? thanks for reading this -S

Use your calculator. Divide 34 by 42. You will get a big long repeating decimal, but all you need are the first couple of digits. Round off to the nearest hundredth. Then move the decimal point two places to the right and slap on a percent sign.

to get the decimal you divide 42 into 34 and no it doesn't go evenly
you could reduce 34/42=17/21 to make it a little easier (but not much) to divide 21 into 17
then take that decimal and multiply it by 100 to get percent.
it should be at least .xxx places
