A sum of $800 was divided equally among a certain number of children. If there had been four more children, each would have received only 3/5 as much. How many children were there?

let the number of children be x
each gets 800/x
800/ x+4 = 3/5 *800/x
800/ x+4 = 2400 /5x
800*5x=2400(x+4)
4000x= 2400x+9600
1600x=9600
x= 9600/1600
x=6 the number of children
