3 is added to a number x + 3
this sum is doubled 2(x + 3)
result is 2 more than the number = x + 2

So our formula is:

Expand:
+2x+%2B+cross%282%2A3%29%2B+6+=+x+%2B+2+

Subtract 6 from each side:
+2x+=+x+-+4+

Subtract x from each side:
