Your equation represents the words but the words are not clear.
It could also be 3*(n+3)=7n-23
3n+9=7n-23
32=4n
8=n

It must mean 3 times (n+3).
3(n+3) = 7n-23
3n+9 = 7n-23
--> n = 8
