Question 283793: My professor gave us a preview test paper to bring home and 2 of the problems on here under the preform the indicated operations are as follows. I am not sure what I am suppose to do with them. x+8sqrx^2+5x-24 and x-3sqrx^2-x-6 any suggestions would be appreciated. At this point I was thinking that I should just squared everything and simplify. Thank You. Deb Draf64@yahoo.com Answer by dabanfield(803) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! My professor gave us a preview test paper to bring home and 2 of the problems on here under the preform the indicated operations are as follows. I am not sure what I am suppose to do with them. x+8sqrx^2+5x-24 and x-3sqrx^2-x-6 any suggestions would be appreciated.
It's a little unclear what is being asked for. Here's one idea:
x + 8*sqrt(x^2) + 5x - 24 =
x + 8*x + 5x - 24 =
14x - 24 =
2*(7x-12)
Since sqrt(x^2) can also be -x you also have:
x + 8*(-x) + 5x - 24 =
x - 8x + 5x - 24 =
-2x - 24 =
-2*(x + 12)
The second problem is similar.
