Think of a number, 

I am thinking of the number N

add on 3,

I get N+3

multiply it by 2,

I get 2(N+3), which upon distributing is 2N+6.

subtract 2, 

I get 2N+6 - 2 which after combining terms gives 2N+4

divide by 2, 

I get %282N%2B4%29%2F2 which equals %282%28N%2B2%29%29%2F2, and upon canceling,
    %28cross%282%29%28N%2B2%29%29%2Fcross%282%29, becomes N+2

subtract your first number. 

My first number was N, so subtracting it gives N+2-N, which
after simplifying, gives 2

What is your answer?

My answer is always 2 no matter what N is.
