Hint: Use the pythagorean theorem a%5E2%2Bb%5E2=c%5E2. In this case a=8, b=2x%2B1 and c=17 giving us the equation 8%5E2%2B%282x%2B1%29%5E2=17%5E2. I'll let you take it from here.
