I am trying to figure out how to set up a formula to work this problem.
I thought drawing it. I thought about making it a right angle and doing the Csquared =Asquared + Bsquared but that didn't work and I am not sure how to take a number and come up with what is it square root is.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! If two planes leave the same airport at 1:00 PM, how many miles apart will they be at 3:00 PM if one travels directly north at 150 mph and the other travels directly west at 200 mph?
A. 50 miles
B. 100 miles
C. 500 miles
D. 700 miles
E. 1,000 miles
---------------
In 2 hours, one plane is 300 miles north
The other is 400 miles west
----------------------------
That makes a right triangle with sides of 300 and 400 miles
They hypotenuse is 500 miles, the 3, 4, 5 triangle
----------------
I don't know why you said that didn't work.
