You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Acceleration is equal to change of velocity divided by change of time. The formula is written
%28V2-V1%29%2F%28T2-T1%29 So if your initial velocity (V1) is 0 and you accelerate up to 54 mph (V2) and it takes 5 seconds then you go from an initial time T1=0 to T2=5. Put into the equation:
%2854-0%29%2F%285-0%29=54%2F5=10.8 mph per second.
Problem 2: Distance = speed x time. To solve for time, divide both sides by speed to get Distance/Speed = Time. In a simpler example, if you're doing 50 mph (speed) and went 150 miles (distance) you'll have traveled 150/50=3 hours. In your problem we have a speed 3%2A10%5E8m/s and a distance 149%2A10%5E9m so our time is:
149%2A10%5E9%2F%283%2A10%5E8%29=1490%2F3=497seconds.

1) If the car goes from standstill to 54 mph in 5 seconds, you can find the acceleration, assuming it's uniform of course, by dividing the speed (54 mph) by the time (5 secs).
But you must work in similar units, so convert the speed of 54 mph to mps (miles per second) before you divide by the 5 seconds.
54 miles/hour divided by 3600 seconds/hour = 0.015 miles per second.
Now divide 0.015 miles/sec by 5 secs = 0.003 miles/second squared.
This means that the car is increasing its speed at the rate of 0.003 miles for each second of travel.
2) The speed of light,C+=+3X10%5E8
Distance to sun,d+=+149X10%5E9
Time of travel, t = distance/speed.
t+=+%28149X10%5E9%29%2F%283X10%5E8%29
t+=+%28149%2F3%29X10%5E1
t+=+497seconds. Divide this by 60 to get minutes.
t = 8.28 minutes.
