You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two cars leave the same town at the same time, traveling in the same direction.
How long until the two cars are 120 apart if one car travels at 44 mph, and the other car travels at 60 mph?
--------------------------
Slower Car DATA:
rate = 44 mph ; distance = x miles ; time = x/44 hrs.
----------------------------
Faster Car DATA:
rate = 60 mph ; distance = x + 120 miles ; time = (x+120)/60 hrs
--------------------------------
Equation:
time = time
x/44 = (x+120)/60
60x = 44x + 44*120
16x = 5280
x = 330 miles
--------------------
Time = 330/44 = 7.5 hrs.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r*t-r*t=120
60*t-44*t=120
16t=120
t=120/16
t=7.5 hours
