Question 27851: Question: At Niagra falls, the American Fallas are two metres higher than the Horseshoe Falls. The sum of their heights is 116m. How high are the horseshoe falls?
My attempt to answer it:
HorseshoeFalls = h
American Falls = h + 2
h + h + 2
= 2h + 2
2h + 2 = 116m
h + 2 = 116/2
h + 2 = 58
h = 58 - 2
h = 56
Therefore:
HorseshoeFalls = h = 56
American Falls = h + 2 = 56 + 2 = 58
58m + 56m = 114m
I can't seem to get it right. If you'd please help solve my question it would be greatly appreciated.
