You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hello,
Let's have x represent the width and (x+3) be the length. Now we can set up an equation like this:
x(x+3)=108 expand this to get:
x^2+3x=108 Subtract 108 from both sides to get:
x^2+3x-108=0 Now we can factor this to be:
(x+12)(x-9)=0 Solve for x to get:
x=-12
x=9
The only value that works is:
x=9 therefore
width is 9 ft
length is 12 feet.
Make sense?
