Question 277531: 1. Find the length of the third side of the right triangle. Assume that c represents the length of the ypotenuse. Give an exact answer and, if appropriate, an approximation to three decimal places. a = 1, b = 6?
These are my choses:
a. c = c ≈ 5.916
b. c = c ≈ 2.646
c. c = 7
d. c = c ≈ 6.083

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. Find the length of the third side of the right triangle. Assume that c represents the length of the ypotenuse. Give an exact answer and, if appropriate, an approximation to three decimal places. a = 1, b = 6?
These are my choses:
a. c = c ≈ 5.916
b. c = c ≈ 2.646
c. c = 7
d. c = c ≈ 6.083
use Pythaogorean Theorem
hypotenuse ^ 2 = leg a ^ 2 + leg b ^ 2
or c^2 = a^2 + b^2
1^2 + 6^2 = c^2
1 + 36 = c^2
37 = c^2
sqrt(37) = c
6.083 approx = c
answer is D
