The denominator of a fraction is 1 more than the numerator. If the numerator is decreased by one and the denominator in increased by 2, the value of the fraction becomes 2/3. Find the fraction. Thank you
Let the numerator be x
the denominator will be x+1

numerator decreased by 1 = x-1
denominator increased by 2 = x+2
x-1/x+2=2/3
3(x-1) = 2(x+2)
3x-3=2x+4
3x-2x=7
x=7 which is the numerator
Denominator will be 8
