Question 276637: I am having a very difficult time using the Completing Square. Could someone demonstrate how to use the Square to solve:
Find the center and radius of the circle given by +x%5E2+%2B+y%5E2+-+10x%2B6y%2B30=0+
and / or x%5E2+%2B+2x+=4+

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the center and radius of the circle given by
+x%5E2+%2B+y%5E2+-+10x%2B6y%2B30=0+
Separate the x's and y's, and put the 30 on the right side
x%5E2-10x+%2B+y%5E2%2B6y+=+-30
For x, -10/2 = -5 --> 25
For y, 6/2 = 3 --> 9
x%5E2-10%2B25+%2B+y%5E2%2B6y%2B9+=+-30+%2B+25+%2B+9
%28x-5%29%5E2+%2B+%28y%2B3%29%5E2+=+4
Center at (5,-3), r = 2
-------------------------
and / or x%5E2+%2B+2x+=4+
x%5E2+%2B+2x+%2B+1+=+5
%28x%2B1%29%5E2+=+5
A parabola, axis of symmetry x = -1
Vertex at (-1,-5)
