a) domain is x must be greater than or equal to 1 because you can't have negative numbers when it comes to log. DON'T KNOW WHAT THE RANGE IS..?
b) log3(x-1)=y
3^y=x-1
3^y+1=x
3^x+1=y

Despite what it looks like, the curve for does not stop abruptly at -3. The value of decreases without bound as approaches 1 from the right. The picture you see is just a limitation of the graphing function on this website.
