A 20-ft ladder is leaning against a building. If the bottom of the ladder is 12 ft from the base of the building, how high does the ladder reach?

Ladder length = 20 ft.
distance from base = 12 feet.
Using the pythagoras theorem
20^-12^2= height^2
400-144=256
= 16^2
So height = 16 feet.
