You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A swimming pool measures 20 feet by 15 feet. a concrete patio which is three feet wide surrounds it. what is the volume of the concrete used to make the patio if it is 3 inches deep?
area of pool = 20 * 15 = 300 ft^2
area of pool plus patio = (20 + 2*3) * (15 + 2*3)
= (20 + 6) * (15 + 6)
= 26 * 21
= 546 ft^2
area patio = 546 - 300 = 246 ft^2
3 inches = 1/4 foot
volume patio = 246 * 1/4 = 61.5 ft^3
