Multiply thru the 1st equation by 2 to get:
4b + 6p = 24

Subtract that equation from the 2nd equation:
-4p = -10
p = 5/2 = $2.50 (price of a package of cream cheese)

Substitute into 2b + 3p = 12 to solve for "b":
2b + 3(5/2) = 12
2b + (15/2) = 24/2
