You can put this solution on YOUR website! Five years ago, Roma was twice as old as Joy. In 6 years, the sum of their ages will be 40 years. What is the present age of each?
Let joy's age be x five years ago.
Roma was 2x at that time
After 6 years joy's age will be x+11
AND Roma's age will be 2x+11
The sum will be x+11 + 2x+11 which is 40
x+11+2x+11=40
3x+22=40
3x=40-22
x=18/3
x=6 Joy's age five year ago.
Joy's age now will be 5+6 = 11 years.
Roma's age was 2*6 years five years ago
12 +5 =17 years now.
