Question 27188: two integers have a sum of 29. Three times the larger is 3 more than four times the smaller. I set it up like this: 3x + 4(x+3)=29 but i did not get the correct answer Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the first integer be x
Let the second integer be y
x+y=29 Solve for y
y=29-x (subsitution)
3x=3+4y
Subsitute for y
3x=3+4(29-x)
3x=3+116-4x
7x=119
x=17
