x^2 - 6x + 8

your factors will be:

(x-2) * (x-4)

this is because:

-4 * -2 = 8

-4 + -2 = -6

multiplying out the factors, you get:

(x-2) * (x-4) equals:

x^2 - 4x - 2x + 8

combine like terms to get:

x^2 - 6x + 8
