D. in two years james will be twice as old as emma. explain why th equation x+8=2(x+2)represents this fact.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let J = james and E = Emma
part (A) = J
part (B) = E + 2
part (C) = J + 2
part (D) =
From above
(i) J = E + 6
(ii) J + 2 = 2*(E + 2)
substituting (i) into (ii) we get
(iii) E + 6 + 2 = 2(E + 2)
simplify to get
(iv) E + 8 = 2(E+2)
solving we get
(v) E + 8 = 2E + 4
subtracting E we get
(vi) 8 = E + 4
subtracting 4 we get
(vii) E = 4
This tells us that James = 10
