step 1 - multiply by the common denominator of 4 to get
6x+%2B+%28x%2B16%29=40
step 2 - combine like terms on the left to get
7x+%2B+16+=+40
step 3 - subtract 16 to get
7x+=+24
step 4 - divide to get
x+=+24%2F7
