You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A large watermelon weighs 20 kg with 98% of its weight being water. It is left to stand in the sun and some of the water evaporates so that now only 95% of its weight is water. What is its reduced weight?
-------------------
amt of water before drying: 0.98*20 = 19.6 kg
non-water weight of the melon: 0.4 kg
---------
After drying:
Let weight be "x".
Equation:
The non-water material in the melon is now 5% of its weight.
0.05x = 0.4 kg
x = 8 kg
The melon now weighs 8 kg.
