-1 = -3/4 (5) + b
-1 = -15/4 + b
-1 / -15/4 = -15/4 / -15/4 + b
-1 / -15/4 = b
-1 * -4/15 = b
4/15 = b
so the slope - intercept of an equation with a slope of -3/4 and passes thru point (5, -1) is y = -3/4x + 4/15
