let the ages be
2n-2, 2n, 2n+2 (2n-2 ---> youngest)
now given,
three times the age of the youngest brother exceeds the oldest brother's age by 48 years

so 3(2n-2)=2n+2+48
=> 6n-6=2n+50
=> 4n=56
=> n=14
so the age of the youngest is 2n-2 = 2*14-2 = 26
Answer: 26
